ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER EXPERIMENT

We are proud to introduce ‘Taskforce Fashion 2020: Residency for Responsible fashion’. Yet again, FASHIONCLASH, M-ODE and State of Fashion have joined forces to investigate the relevance and the transforming role of fashion concerning social-cultural issues.

This year, we critically ask the designers of the future:

“As a designer, how would you like to take social responsibility within your practice?”

Together, we will strive to make a positive contribution to the world around us by taking on a growing responsibility; whether it’s by helping the elderly, fighting racism, decreasing segregation or battling any other social-cultural matter that stands in the way of collaboration, mutual understanding and solidarity.

 #MEET THE TEAMS

Collaboration and the design process are central to Taskforce Fashion. For our second experiment, Residency for Responsible fashion we have selected fifteen fashion talents, who - both individually and in teams of five - zoom in on three cities in the Netherlands: Maastricht, Tilburg and Rotterdam.

Get to know our talents and what drives them below.

#TEAM UPDATES

No ‘fashion for fashion’s sake’. Taskforce Fashion is all about research, experimentation and the transformative role of fashion. The 15 designers are stimulated to question the current reality and fashion system, to ultimately provide possible solutions for the future.

Through field trips, desktop research and in-depth conversations with experts from the field, the teams investigated the social-cultural challenges of their cities. Get a first glimpse at their research!

RESIDENCY FOR RESPONSIBLE FASHION

Corona challenged our designers to find new ways of presenting their design-through-research. Rather than merging the different team projects into one presentation, each team created their own local platform. This way, the projects could be presented in a meaningful place with a close relation to the research. From a train station to a primary school class: unconventional and creative solutions were thought of. The next video bridges the physical distance and connects all projects.
